But within its depths lurks a venom, a deceptive lure that promises wealth at the cost of morals. On January 15th, 1919, Boston was website struck by a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with syrup burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that swept through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, soaring to 25 feet in some areas, was horrifying. Buildings were flattened under the power of the treacherous goo.
The aftermath was tragic. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more were injured. The flood also caused extensive damage to property, leaving a trail of molasses carnage in its wake.
